Something I’ve discovered about myself over the years is that I rely on being busy to get me writing. It’s a lot easier to write for an hour when I have a busy, but predictable, day than when I have nothing else to do.
For the last year or so, I’ve been quite busy, but not predictably so. On any given day, I might have 10 hours or work or 0 hours. This makes it hard to establish a rhythm and habit of writing. The conventional advice to “write every day” hints at how making a habit of writing will result in a lot more being written.
This is a long-winded way of saying it’s been a month since I worked on my novel, mostly because life has been topsy-turvy. Busy isn’t a problem, but unpredictable throws me off. I’m hoping things get more predictable soon, and that I get back to writing.
