Puzzle Maker: Appleone (Japan)

Title: Dayton’s Repair Garage (note that we couldn’t find this for sale outside Japan)

Pieces: 1000

Cut: Grid cut

Relative difficulty: *

Overall quality: ****

Link to purchase: https://www.amazon.co.jp/アップルワン-APPLEONE-1000-769-1000ピース-デイトンさんのリペアガレージ(50x75cm)/dp/B0107NDFM4/ (note: Appleone import puzzles at US Amazon can run more than a hundred dollars for what should be a much cheaper puzzle, so it’s worth checking either Amazon Japan or your local toy shop to save a bundle)

Review:

This isn’t the first Appleone puzzle we’ve done, but we keep ordering them. The cardboard is thick and good quality, but it does have a tendency to separate if you get pieces stuck together. The colors are crisp, without muddiness.

All of the Applone puzzles of the same size seem to use the same cut pattern (this is not unique to Appleone, of course!), but if you want a hard puzzle, go for one that’s not grid cut. One unique feature is that each has an apple-shaped piece inside.

In terms of overall quality, these are great, but may not be worth import prices. They’re quite close to Ravensburger puzzles in terms of materials quality, and the box includes both glue and a spreader.

We highly recommend Appleone puzzles if you can find them for a decent price. They’re not worth the $100+ that some are listed for on non-Japan Amazon, though.
