For many years, I’ve worked as an editor and writer, with technical and management duties taking up only a portion of my days. On Monday, I’ll start a new job as a Data Engineer.

In this role, I’ll be responsible for managing (and documenting) the flow of information within the company, for getting analysts and programmers what they need, and broadly for everything related to data. This is one of the things I was doing at my last fulltime job, and it’s nice to focus on one thing.

My hope is that this will also let me get back to writing. Having scattered days has not been great for my writing productivity. The busier and more focused I am, the more I tend to write.
