With the season of giving in full swing, it is easy to forget about ourselves and become over-extended. That is what makes this week the perfect week for a home spa day (or a spa day out). A spa day is about pampering yourself in whatever way speaks to you. Some people like to pour a glass of wine and listen to music, while others read a book. Some people like to do a spa day out, getting treatments for the hair and skin. I personally love a good massage.
The point is to take a day to give yourself some of the love and attention you give to others. I know that for some taking a full day will be unrealistic. If this is your case, try taking an hour or two just for yourself. Take an hour or two and go to the movies or a museum. You can go and get a manicure or pedicure. Another option is to take yourself out to eat, or simply take a long a bath.
Part of this challenge is to get in touch with yourself and reflect on what rejuvenates you. The goal is to have one day where your rejuvenation is the focus. One day where you make yourself the priority. The harder this is to do, the more important it is to do. You are the most important person in your tribe. Taking care of yourself will allow you to be better at taking care of everyone else. Taking a day to yourself will help you rest and be present. Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is understanding that in order to be able to give you need energy, and rest is the best way to create energy. Self-care is the best way to create caring energy.
